Powered Learning Fair Keynote Speaker - Alicia Johal
San Diego CUE is proud to announce the keynote speaker for Powered Learning Fair 2019. Alicia Johal is the assistant director for the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Thinking at the San Diego Jewish Academy. She has worked in public, charter and private schools for 9 years, teaching 7th and 8th grade science, biotechnology and marine biology. As a justice-driven educator, she works to create opportunities on and off campus for students to have access and achievement, and has been awarded by state and federal programs for her work creating inclusive STEM programs to support school communities. She is an Apple Foundations Trainer, EdTechTeam presenter and shares her expertise at conferences around the topics of equitable technology, language learners, student activism and mastery-based teaching and learning.
Presenting at the SDCUE Powered Learning Fair is a great way to share your expertise with colleagues, build your experience and CV, and network with fellow professionals from around Southern California. Presenters are given free registration for the Powered Learning Fair.

Credit Validation for San Diego CUE Members Only
This course is designed to include full attendance at the San Diego CUE Tech Fair, held at the campus of West Hills High School in Santee on November 2, 2019, and completion of a written assignment that will validate your learning from the conference. Participants are encouraged to bring one or more new ideas, materials, curricula or techniques taught at the conference into their teaching practice.
Bring a new idea, or create an original one, to the classroom based on what was presented at the conference, then:
- Plan and implement that idea providing concrete activities, elements, and timelines
- Put into practice what you learn - Identify how you will track and evaluate the impact of your new strategies
- Plan and prepare fresh approaches in the classroom
Number of Units: 1.0 or 2.0 graduate level extension credit(s) in semester hours
Who Should Attend: This course provides continuing education for K-12 teachers incorporating technology in to their classrooms.
Become a member of CUE and register for the Powered Learning Fair prior to enrolling for credit.
Course Dates: Powered Learning Fair on November 2, 2019, with follow-up written assignment due no later than January 3, 2020
Course Format: Classroom on November 2, 2019 with follow-up Independent Study assignment
