Social Studies

Social Studies is very interesting for the students in fifth grade because they learn about the history of the United States and our government. Several times throughout the year students will have an opportunity to engage in inquiry based learning. Through reading and research, they will work collaboratively and independently to answer a BIG question as well as smaller focused questions in each unit.

Our topics include:

• Civics: How have conflicts shaped our nation?

• Economics: How does the economy affect behavior?

• Geography: How does a place affect the movement of people or goods?

• History: How did our country evolve during its first 100 years?
