Spelling

Our spelling tests will be every Thursday. Lists will come home in their Friday folder. Please ask your child for it, and help them study throughout the week. The test will only consist of dictated sentences using words from the list. Correct capitalization, spacing between words, and punctuation are part of the grade. You can study the words using a website called Spelling City. Please follow the link below for weekly spelling lists. Spelling City also offers spelling games that make practicing spelling a little more fun. If you are unsure of what list to use on Spelling City, it is generally the list at the very top of the list. The name of the list should also match the story of the week as seen in the language tab.

Reading Specialist Susan Jones, M.Ed., has researched how spelling improves reading and writing fluency and how it improves vocabulary and comprehension.
