There are new requirements for teachers/administrators who are required to register on their TEACH account every five years. This chart explains who is required to register and what CTLE requirements they are subject to based upon their teaching license.

For access to the TEACH website, please visit: http://www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/teach/login.html

Please keep in mind that this is different from the BEDS process that you do online (That is coming in early October when you verify teaching experience, base salary, course registration, student enrollment in each class and educational experience).

For some of you, registration on the TEACH system may be required unless you have applied for certification in the last five years or updated your account information. If you receive an error message, please follow the directions on retrieving your username and/or password. Unfortunately, neither the Human Resources Office nor the IT Office can assist you with this process. You must contact the TEACH HELP LINE at 518-486-6041 or submit the online form: https://secureforms.nysed.gov/ohe/tcert/technical.cfm

Thank you for your attention to this important matter!

Beginning on July 1, 2016 individuals who hold a permanent or professional certificate in the classroom teaching service or educational leadership service (i.e., school building leader, school district leader, school district business leader) or a Level III Teaching Assistant certificate prior to July 1, 2016, shall apply for initial registration during the 2016-2017 school year during his/her month of birth and shall renew his/her registration in the last year of each subsequent five-year period thereafter. For example, an existing professional certificate holder that works in a NYS public school and has a date of birth of 3/20 would register during the month of March 2017. Their first Registration period would be 3/2017 through 3/31/2022. Permanently or Professionally certified classroom teachers, educational leaders and Level III Teaching Assistants practicing in a New York State school district or Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) must register as indicated. Practicing means employed 90 days or more during a school year by a single applicable school in a position requiring certification. Classroom teachers and educational leaders that hold Professional certificates and Level III Teaching Assistants practicing in a New York State school district or BOCES will be subject to CTLE requirements in addition to Registration requirements.
