Our district's curriculum for reading instruction is CKLA/Amplify. This curriculum is fast-paced, comprehensive, and divided into two parts: Skills and Knowledge. Below is what we have been/will be working on in each unit.

Math

Our district uses iReady Math for our daily math instruction. Below are listed the focus and practice skills for each Unit.


Unit 4 Lessons 11-15 (January-March)

Students will read, write, and count numbers to 10

Students will compare objects and numbers to 10 to determine greater or less

Students will determine how many more objects are needed to make 10

Students will use + and = to write number sentences

Students will compose and decompose shapes using rectangles, squares, triangles, and hexagons


Unit 3 Lessons 7-10 (November-December)

Students will use manipulatives, fingers, and drawings to add within 5

Students will recognize that adding to a number makes more

Students will tell and solve story problems using addition 

Students will name and describe flat (2D) shapes, regardless of their orientation or size

Students will build and draw 2D shapes

Students will use position words (above, behind, below, beside, etc) to describe the location of a shape



Unit 2 Lessons 4-5-6 (October-November)

Students will count, show, and write numbers to 5

Students will match a number to a count or collection of objects

Students will compare numbers and quantities within 5, using the words more, less, or same

Students will recognize that one more is the next number in the counting sequence

Students will identify and name solid (3D) shapes, and connect solid shapes to objects in the environment

Students will compare the weights of objects to determine which is heavier or lighter


Unit 1 Lessons 1-2-3 (September-October)

Students will use position words (above, behind, below, beside, etc) to describe the location of an object

Students will move and model objects in described positions

Students will describe physical attributes of an object and use attributes to compare objects

Students will directly compare the length or height of 2 objects

Students will sort objects into groups based on common attributes

Students will identify common attributes of sorted objects

Students will count sorted objects and sort categories by count
