All items such as lunchbox, jackets, and water bottles should be labeled with your child's name. Toys, stuffed animals, and other personal items need to remain at home.
We go outside for recess everyday, unless it is colder than 15 degrees or raining. Kindergarteners should dress for the weather every day, including shoes that are safe for running. It's always a good idea to have your child bring a light jacket or sweater just in case. They might also keep a change of clothes in their backpack for emergencies. If your child wears boots to school, please make sure they have shoes to change into for the classroom.
If your child is absent, they should sign in to Google Chrome using their sau54 user name and password, then go to Google Classroom and complete all of the listed assignments every day they are absent.

Birthday celebration policy: Due to allergies and sensitivities, we are unable to share and enjoy food treats in the classroom. Each child's birthday will be acknowledged with a crown, sticker, pencil, and a card. Please do not send in edible treats on your child's birthday. If you would like to send in party invitations, let me know, and we will make sure they are distributed to classmates.
Remote Learning
If the district decides in advance to have a remote learning day due to weather or other event, students will bring home their assigned iPad and any materials needed for learning. The schedule we are required to follow is here (click the link to see). We will sometimes send home iPads "just in case". Please do not use iPads or remove any materials from bag unless we do have a remote day. Simply return all items the next school day so that your child will have what they need for learning.
What is a "PAWS SPOT?
Every learning area in our building has a Paws Spot-a place where children may take a break if they are feeling sad, tired, upset, or excited. Students may take a break at any time, and do not need teacher permission to do so. Occasionally, they may be asked by a teacher to take a break, but usually it is self-directed. Please note that this is NOT a "time out" spot, and it is NOT a punishment!!
Follow The Wildcat Way:
*BE SAFE, BE RESPECTFUL, BE RESPONSIBLE*
Students in our building are expected to follow the William Allen School code of conduct (the *Wildcat Way*) at all times. Our number one priority is SAFETY. Once students are safe, then we can all focus on learning and having fun.
Ask your child to tell you how they follow the Wildcat Way every day.
Beginning the first day of school, kindergarteners need a folder for daily communication. Your child should bring their folder every day so that they will have a safe place to put notes, finished work, and other important papers. We check folders every day, so this is the best place to put anything important, such as notes from home, lunch money, etc. You should check your child's folder every day too.
