This year our fair project pertained to our Native American studies. As a class, we learned that proverbs were used long ago by many tribes across what is now the United States. A proverb is a short sentence that people often quote because it gives advice or tells something about life. We say many proverbs today that are actually quite similar to those that Native Americans used. Reading these proverbs together in class we could see that each one contained wise words to live by. These messages are still just as true today as they were hundreds and hundreds of years ago.

For our fair project each student chose a proverb to explain. We shared the proverbs together in class and talked about what each meant. Students then wrote their own thoughts on a particular proverb which was added to our class project. We are very proud to have earned a red ribbon at the fair!!!

We had a great visit to Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum in November and learned many interesting facts about what Native American life was like all across North America. We even saw a mammoth tooth that was several thousand years old!
