Education
- Mrs. Leonard graduated with Honors from Wesleyan University in 1998 and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
- Mrs. Leonard earned her M.A.T. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Mississippi in 2000. She was part of the Mississippi Teacher Corps while earning her masters degree.
- Since completing her degrees, Mrs. Leonard has continued to further her education in both mathematics and teaching by taking graduate courses and attending workshops.
Work Experience
Mrs. Leonard has been teaching math at public high schools since 1998. She has taught at the following schools:
- Greenwood High School in Greenwood, MS 1998-2001
- Nashua High School and Nashua High School South 2001-2007
- Hollis-Brookline High School 2007 - Present
- Mrs. Leonard has written geometry and algebra workbooks and has been a contributing author for a book for first year teachers. The book, Delta Autumn has been used by new teachers in the Mississippi Teacher Corps as part of their masters program.
Mrs. Leonard has been teaching and tutoring in a variety of situations since she was a high school student. Some of these experiences have included the following:
- Upward Bound at Southern Vermont College: Mrs. Leonard held a variety of positions over her 5 summers with this program, ranging from tutor-counselor to resident director to program teacher.
- Mrs. Leonard has taught dance off and on for many years. She has taught ballet classes to ice skaters in her hometown as well as to teens and adults at a ballroom dance studio in Merrimack, NH. She advised the Dance Team here at HBHS for 3 years.
- Mrs. Leonard is currently an assistant instructor in martial arts at a studio in Manchester, NH.
Honors
Mrs. Leonard was a nominee for the 2024 NH Teacher of the Year.
