Golden Wing Awards

In order to be super strong HAWKS you need to grow your wings. Here at HUES we believe that everyone needs three sets of strong wings to be successful in life....academic wings, behavior wings, and social skills wings. Teachers are looking for and catching students who are demonstrating HAWK Behavior in these three areas as outlined below.

Academic Wings - students who are demonstrating that they can take responsibility for their academic learning show us that they can.......

-ask questions when they don't understand something (student empowerment),

-complete their in class and homework assignments, and

-use student support services when asked (or volunteer to go there on their own)

Students are NOT required to be perfect NOR get all A's to earn this award.....we want them demonstrating they can be responsible for their learning.

Behavior Wings - students who are demonstrating that they can take responsibility for their behavior show us that they can.....

-make the right decision regardless of an adult being present

-take ownership for mistakes and determine how their behavior can change so as to not repeat bad decisions, and

-treat materials and belongings with respect

Social Skill Wings -- students who are demonstrating that they can make excellent choices in this area show us they can.....

-include others in recess games and at the lunch tables,

-be there for others by holding doors open, being friendly, helping other peers and friends in need, and

-be respectful of others decisions and choices

Golden Wing Awards are awarded during lunch times so that all students can cheer on the golden wing students. We internally post photos in our WING gallery outside of the HUES cafeteria.
