From the Nurse's Desk

-If medications were not brought in at the parent meeting, please make sure they are brought to HBMS by Thursday, March 21st before noon by an adult with parent permission. Please consider allergy medication and motion sickness medication if those might be an issue for your child. Students are not allowed to carry any medications on their person or in their luggage except for inhalers and Epi-pens. If your child has an Epi-pen or inhaler, please note on the form whether your child will be carrying the medication on their person or if you want the chaperone to carry it.

-Medications – prescription and Over-the-Counter (OTC) - must be in the original bottle and not expired. OTC meds must be in an unopened or blister pack container. Due to the volume of medications which need to be administered, we ask that vitamins and other non-essentials not be sent on the trip. If your child has no medications and you have no questions for the nurses- please put your child’s medical form in the alphabetized bin. Please give your student any medications they may need for Tuesday morning. Students—if you are taking morning medications on the trip, please remember to go the nurse’s room before you go to breakfast.

-Food Allergies/Issues—Parents must contact the food vendors listed on the school’s website to explain your child’s food issue so their needs can be met. Parents of students with food allergies should consider contacting their student‘s roommates parents to explain their child’s food allergy.

-If a student needs to use an inhaler on the trip- they can go ahead and use it then inform a nurse or chaperone that they have so one of the nurses can assess them.

-School Rules Apply—Illness--Students must be fever free for 24 hours without fever reducers such as Tylenol or ibuprofen in order to go on the trip. If your child is sick the morning of the trip, please contact the school so it can be determined if he/she should attend. If a student develops an illness on the trip such as vomiting, diarrhea or a fever over 100- parents are responsible for coming to DC to bring the child home
