Hello 3rd grade Falcons and families!
This is my 24th year teaching, and I couldn't be more excited! I've been part of the Falcon Family for eleven years through my role as a Literacy Specialist Teacher, Instructional Support Provider, and 3rd grade teacher - I truly love this school! I have a Master's Degree in Education: Reading and Language Arts and a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies. My class motto is 'Be the Bright' meaning dream big, work hard, choose kind, and believe in yourself!
I grew up in Sonora, and moved to Fresno to attend college. My husband, Joe, and I have been married for eight years, and I'm a stepmom to three amazing kids - Madison (21), Kaia (19), and Kolton (14). We have 2 rescue dogs, Riley and Ella, and love to take them hiking in the mountains! Some of my hobbies include cycling (road and gravel), reading (of course!), hiking, yoga, and spending time with my family.
I am a type 1 diabetic, which means my pancreas no longer produces insulin, and without insulin, my body can not regulate blood sugar. I wear 2 medical devices (you may see them on my arms): my pump continuously gives me insulin, and I have to give myself an extra dose when I eat. I also wear a glucose monitor that measures my blood sugar every 5 minutes and sends the reading to my phone. If you see me checking my phone or hear alarms going off - it means my glucose is low and I need to eat a snack! There is no cure for T1D (yet!) and it is not preventable. I am very open to answering questions from kids and parents about diabetes!
I look forward to getting to know you and your child this year. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or need anything! I am always happy to help 😃
Please feel free to purchase elsewhere & price shop! This is just for reference.
