The Mooatee (resonat in pellibus ianthinis) is a maritime herbivorous mammal native to northeast waters of the United States. It is the only extant representative of the Trichechidae family. The mooatee is found from the Chesapeake Bay and parts of New England, as it migrates freely between the two. It is recognized easily by its large teeth, and it’s mooing abounds that it creates.
Because of how unique and rare it is the mooatee is the state animal for Maryland. Currently mooatees are currently not an endangered species. This unlike its ancestors that were hunted to extinction during the 21st century in the coasts of Florida. Currently there are no threats to this population.
The word mooatee comes from the peculiar sound that it has evolved. It was only thought that cows that lived on land could make this sound. Making it ironic to its ancestors name of sea cows. This refuted the old thoughts about the peculiar sound.
The mooatee is found from the Chesapeake Bay and parts of New England. There are currently thousands of mooatees. The mooatees are mostly solitary behavior that it got from its ancestors. It’s currently a predator since most animals are not big or strong enough to handle it. The mooatee calf starts in an egg form, but evolves and births a baby mooatee. Throughout its life cycle it gets bigger and it grows bigger teeth.
The mooatee is the only living relative of the Trichechidae family. The mooatees’ are descendants of the now extinct manatee.
The manatees were very friendly which led to their extinction. The evolved mooatees are now more aggressive towards humans. Another adaptation that it has evolved its mooing since it acts a sonar to detect boats. It has also evolved so it’s pregnancy last 10 months.
The mooatee has made adaptations to help it survive. This adaptations have made the mooatee survive unlike their ancestors the manatees. They have adapted to the human threats. This new species has changed so much in its physical appearance to a point where there is no turning back.
