The docelot is a medium-sized cat that originally come from a Carnivora which a native to the jungles of South America. It is part of the Felidae family and the margay is their closest relative. A hundred years ago there were only 8,000 - 1.5 million around the world, 60 or less in 2 small parts of southeast Texas. The Docelot were mostly found in both coasts of Mexico in Central America mountainous regions, inhabiting tropical forests of South America, tropical forests, grasslands, mangrove forests and marshes. However, now the Docelot become more popular. Except the places listed above, Docelots can be easily found in many people’s homes. It is recognizable by its size, twice larger than the regular house cats, big tail, yellowish, grey fur with the white spot on it, just like the deer print, and that is the most representative characteristics of the docelot.
The docelot is also known as domi ocelot, which means “domesticated ocelot.” A hundred years ago, the docelot was called ocelot. During the hundred years since 2019, ocelot began to make adaptations, and evolved into a new species, so their name also be changed. The Docelot comes from the domestic ocelot, which means the ocelot become more domesticated (as the result nowadays, the population of docelot is increasing every year and the number of docelot is having a huge improvement than before. It can be easily found at people’s houses just like cats and dogs), another way to recognize its name is by their deer print, deer ocelot, to docelot.
The population of the docelot are increasing every year. And are now not longer endangered. According to expert statistics, the population of docelot is now same as dogs and cats. The docelot are native to the southwestern United States.
The Female docelot used to stay with her child for a few months and then would leave her babies. But now the family structure of the docelot is much easier, after a female docelot has a baby, the babies would be given away to their new owner, just like normal dogs and cats.
Docelots and ocelots were Carnivoras. A hundred years ago, there wasn’t a species called docelot, only the ocelot exists. The docelot evolved from an ocelot, they use a hundred years to make adaptations. Ocelot can be about 2-3 feet long. They are slender, and live from 8-11 years. The most representative characteristics is their valuable special fur which was marked with solid black spots, streaks and stripes. However, their unique fur was the main reason that most of ocelots were being killed and hunted by humans for money and fur. Their number was decreasing and there was a possibility of extinction. At that point, they developed mutations to adapt the danger situation that ocelot were facing.
On 2019, there were only 8,000-1.5 million ocelot around the world, and 60 or less in 2 small parts of southeast Texas, found in tropical forests, grasslands, mangrove forests and marshes. Around 2030, there was an albino ocelot born, then this albino ocelot mated with another normal ocelot, and made a new species docelot. Afterwards, that docelot mated with other ocelots, because of the docelot has more dominant traits, so the baby they gave birth was still docelot, then the docelot continued to expand.
In 2040, a scientist name Dr. Lopez saw the docelot and her babies during an animal rescue. He took them back to his research lab, because they were hurt. Dr. Lopez has never seen any animals like this before, so he made a new discovery and named them docelot. He kept doing research on the docelot and found out the docelot were coming from ocelot, they also had some evolution, first their fur changed to deer print, it can strongly help them to prevent from hunting. Second, the docelot can have 8-10 babies at one time, instead of 3-5 babies. Third, Dr. Lopez also found out that they have a longer life span which can live for 15-20 years.
After the research, Dr. Lopez releasing the docelots back into the wild for 5 years, because he wanted to test out the domestication of those new ocelot(docelot). He took two newborn babies and took them at home with him, just like the house pets, they stayed with him for 5 years and realized that they act like cats. In 2046, he collected most of the newborn docelot babies, and had many volunteers take the babies with them. Now we have domestic docelot.
Not only the appearances of docelots changed, their life span, production quantity, and habitats all have been changed. The change of fur help them to prevent from human hunting; longer life span, live longer; having more babies at one time, increasing the number of docelot; become more domesticated, become more common. All those changes safe this animal from extinction, and disappear in the world . Their diet also changed, people feed them with cat food.
Docelot is a new species that came from the ocelot. They still have some similarities, not only their appearance but also their life habits. The biggest point is the docelot can survive easier than the ocelot.
