Homework

There will be some sort of homeowrk but it will be trivial and a family decision whether it gets done or not.  There will be Dojo points for those that choose to do it and turn in however.

There will hopefully be a Scholastic News that comes home once a week and I would love it if you read that with your child and had them complete the short acitivity on the back and turn that in. Dojo points will be given if this is returned.

Briefcase Folder- There will be a folder with books that comes home weekly.  The books shold be at your child's level or just below.  This will build fluency and comprehension.  These will not be coming home until at least September.  I need to establish student levels and abilities before just sending books home.  The folder is just like a library.  Kids will check out hte books and return them.  If books don't come back, then no new books until they do.  If less comes back than what they took, then less is what they will get to take home.

Print a copy of the Superstar Reader Card here.  This super star reader card is for any books the children read.  It could be from the folder, or books you have at home, or library books.  Any book they read, they get to mark off a box.  If they read the same book 5 times, then that is 5 boxes.  If they read chapter books, then it is one box per chapter.  Whenever the chart is full, then they bring it in and they can go to the prize box.  They will then get a new Super Star Reader Card.
