About the Class

About the Engineering course at Pershing...

Have you ever wondered who came up with the idea of the cell phone, its design, how it functions, how it’s built?  Or how 3D printers can be used to save a life?  Have you ever taken apart a vacuum cleaner or small appliance just to see what was inside and how the components work? This class will help you understand why and how certain products are made and used to meet the needs of today’s society as well as future societies.

This program develops students’ technical and mechanical skills with a focus on Design and Modeling, Energy and the Environment, Automation and Robotics, Green Architecture, and basic mechanical skills.

The Engineering program at Pershing has three course offerings.  In sixth grade students take the Wheel and will get a basic intro to Digital and Graphic Design.  In the upper grades, students will take either the intermediate or the advanced section.  At the intermediate level, students continue developing their mechanical skills.  In the advanced class, accepted students will be responsible for utilizing higher level skills, tools, and technology.

Welcome and let's start creating!
