The Matchmaker, a farce in four acts, is a romantic comedy that tells the story of matchmaker Dolly Levi and her attempts to find a perfect wife for the wealthy, but stingy merchant, Horace Vandergelder. It’s 1883, and Dolly and Horace leave sleepy Yonkers and head to NYC to meet Horace’s intended fiancée, hat shop owner and widow, Irene Molloy. Several other characters are pulled into the adventure, including Horace’s two bumbling employees - Cornelius and Barnaby - and his overly-emotional niece, Ermengarde. By the end of the day, there have been misunderstandings, mistaken identities, lots of hysterical chaos and a few love connections. The Matchmaker, written by Thornton Wilder of Our Town fame, is probably most well-known for being the source material for the classic musical, Hello Dolly!

The cast includes… Emily Allman, Hunter Davis, Samantha Dobrowolski, Erik Firehammer, Cristina Gonzalez, John Harrell, Maggie Lupton, Alayna Musson, Eddie Ozor, Joe Singh, Collin Wagner, Gabe Walkowiak, Wesley Welt, and Lily Wilkin. The production is directed and produced by Kristen Glatz and student directed by Miranda Patterson, Courtney Pellerin, and Laurel Schmidt.
