About Pierson Library

Mission Statement:

The Helen Gregory Memorial Library at Pierson Middle/High School recognizes the American Library Association Standards for Information Literacy. Through collection development, resource access, and collaborative planning, our aim is to guide and assist students, teachers, and school community toward becoming effective users of ideas and information and develop the skills and appreciation necessary to support lifelong learning.

Library Hours:

Monday - Thursday: 7:25 a.m. - 3:10 p.m.

Homework Club: 2:26-3:30 Monday-Thursday

Friday: 7:25 a.m. - 2:36 p.m.

Library Resources:

The library offers a variety of resources supporting the curriculum and interest needs of the school community. We currently house over 17,000 volumes in addition to a special collection of Art books, books for the IB and College Bound, Long Island Authors, and resources for teachers and parents. The library catalog can be accessed from school and home through the district web site.

The library serves both the Middle and High Schools. Middle school students who wish to check out high school level books will need to obtain written consent from their parent or guardian. (consent form).

Computers:

The library computer lab hosts 25 Mac workstations. In addition 25 Chromebooks are also available for use in the library. Students and teachers can access nearly 50 online databases from the library web site. Username and passwords can be obtained from the librarians.

Students:

Students are welcome to use the library facility at any time and are required to have a signed pass from their classroom teacher during the school day.
