Coaching Cycle Options
Focus Cycle - A large number of our cycles the last few years have focused on classroom management support. Usually last 2-3 weeks after identifying a behavior or procedure which students are struggling with in your classroom.
Coaching Cycle - Focus on academics. Identify a standard or concept your students are struggling with academically and collaborating to develop new strategies to improve. Usually lasts 4-6 weeks after starting with a pre-assessment to identify target areas.
Co-Teaching Coaching Cycle - Something new we started last year with the Special Education department and several core teachers. Discussion centered around establishing norms in the general education classroom and finding common times to plan for upcoming lessons. Emphasis on division of labor and identifying how modifications/accommodations will be determined for student work.
Cross-Curricular Coaching Cycle - Find a department where you have some commonalities and collaborate to mesh content with language development. Social studies and literacy have worked together in the past.
Departmental Coaching Cycle - Another popular option to find a common class taught in your department and doing a coaching cycle with an academic focus.
