Engagement

The PTA serves as a networking platform for parents to provide mutual support while connecting with the school.

(1)  Members Potluck Gathering

It is a potluck gathering where members contribute their specialties. You will be amazed with the spread of scrumptious food. Most importantly, parents get the opportunity to network, share and exchange information among themselves during the two-hour session.

(2)  Parent-Teen Bonding Activities (KIV)

An initiative jointly organized by Student Council and RVH PTA, this 1-day outdoor event seeks to enhance parent-teen bonding through team-building activities at Adventure Centres such as SAFRA Adventure Sports Centre, MOE Outdoor Facilities such as Dairy Farm & Labrador Outdoor Adventure Learning centres etc. Members and their families jointly participate in these events, which engage not just the parents and their teens but also enhances the spirit of camaraderie among PTA members. In addition, parents get to witness RV students showcasing their leadership qualities during the event!

(3)  Membership 3-Step Awareness Programme

Ø Open House – PTA Booth

This is set up to raise awareness of the PTA’s roles to the parents of potential RV students before Y1 Registration Day.  It is a form of informal sharing with parents on the importance of partnering their teens on their RVIP journey.

Ø Sec 1 Registration Day – PTA Station

The PTA station is one of the five stations set up for the parents of our new students. Parents are strongly encouraged to join the PTA.  Its activities open up many opportunities for them to become better engaged with their teens on this part of their educational journey. 

At the station, EXCO members will be on hand to share with parents the roles of the PTA, members’ privileges etc. Parents can make use of this opportunity to ask questions and clarify their doubts.

Ø Parenting Talk for Sec 1 Parents (Transition Talk)

With your teens being promoted from primary to secondary school, both parents and teens will face new challenges. To better prepare our members, the PTA will invite professional speaker to share tips on helping your teens to make a smoother transition to life in secondary school. In addition, our EXCO speaker will share with new parents what are the essential information and resources that every RV Parents should know.

(4)         EXCO Meetings

All elected Executive Committee (EXCO) are expected to attend quarterly meetings. At these meetings, EXCO members plan events for the entire year, set up event sub-committees, update and collect feedback on programmes and events so as to better serve the PTA community and the school.

(5)         Annual General Meeting (AGM)

At the AGM, usually held at the beginning of each year, the accounts and financial report of the previous year are reviewed and approved by the members. In addition, the Key Bearers, Auditors and Executive Committee (EXCO) for the next term are elected at this meeting.

(6)         Facebook page exclusive to PTA members

All members are welcome to join our Facebook Closed Group which is another channel for networking and information sharing.
