Initially created as a collaborative peer-reviewed collection of presentations & simulations for use in a respiratory curriculum in  Nepal: Respiratory Nurse Certification Course

In collaboration between: 

• Critical Care Nurses Association of Nepal (CCNAN) 

• Respiratory Therapists Without Borders (RTWB) 

• RTs around the world creating teaching materials or peer-reviewing

Background: 

Critical Care Nurses Association of Nepal (CCNAN) is a non-government organization committed to advancing critical care in Nepal since 2016. CCNAN started a Critical Care Nurse Training Program for current ICU nurses. To date, there is a train the trainer program, 394 graduates in 17 batches and going strong. CCNAN reached out to RTWB to assist with the next level of training for their nurses to become respiratory trained. During the process of creating content for this course, several other international needs came in. This spawned the idea of OpenResp.org - a database of vetted educational material to improve respiratory health through educational advancement of local healthcare providers worldwide. 

Where we are now: 

The first batch of Nepali ICU nurses graduated the program in 2025.  There is no set date for the next intake, but this database has grown & can be used by anyone hoping to share respiratory care knowledge worldwide!
