Diane E. Curtis Medical Scholarship

High school, home schooled or college student pursuing a health career. Application due no later than February 25, 2022.

Scholarship Amount is $1.000 payable at the end of the first semester of college.

The University of Maine Pulp and Paper Foundation Scholarship

High School students planning to enroll at UMaine and study Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering as well as Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology or Forestry are eligible for these scholarships.

Recipients are required to complete at least two semesters of PAID co-op or internship experience in the Pulp and Paper Industry, and they graduate in four years with the significant advantage of nearly a years worth of experience (or more) in their field.

The Clyde Russell Scholarship

High School Senior who will attend a 4 year college or a Maine Community College. Application form can be downloaded from the website, clyderussellscholarshipfund.org. Applications are due no later than February 1, 2022.

Franklin Community Health Network

High School student who demonstrates strong motivation to pursue a health care career, display academic excellence, and show a dedication to community service. One $500 scholarship will be awarded.

US JCI Senate Foundation Scholarship

Maine High School seniors are eligible to apply through the Maine JCI Senate representative on the application form. The Maine JCI Senate will select two candidates for the next level of judging by the US JCI Senate Foundation. This year, the US JCI Senate Foundation will award scholarships of $1,000 each to 30 students from the United States. The Maine JCI Senate will award a small scholarship of $200 each to the two Maine finalists.

The Hagan Scholarship

For a student who is going to graduate from a public high school located in a county having fewer than 50,000 residents and enroll at a four-year not-for-profit college or university the first semester following high school graduation.

1. ACT and SAT scores are not required.

2. Must attend an Eligible Public High School.

3. Must be a U.S. Citizen.

4. Must have achieved a 3.75 cumulative grade point average.

5. Must enroll at an eligible four-year college or university the first semester following high school graduation.

6. Must work 240 hours before August 2021.

7. FAFSA EFC must not exceed $6,500.

8. Must apply for Federal and State grants if eligible.

9. Must not have a felony conviction.

The intended recipient of a Hagan Scholarship is a high-achieving, goal driven student in need of financial assistance to attend college.

The scholarship provides up to $6,000 each semester, for up to eight consecutive semesters, to help recipients graduate college debt free.

The Jake Lord Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is in memory of Jacob "Jake" Lord, a 2011 graduate of Jay High School. Jake was a scholar athlete who participated in AYS and high school sports. The scholarship will be awarded to a student with academic promise and participated in sports in high school. A short essay of 250 words - YOUR EXPERIENCE OF PLAYING SPORTS IN A SMALL TOWN.

Margaret Chase Smith Library Essay Contest

Open to all seniors! 26th Annual Essay Contest

'Look to the future and share with us ideas of how they would propose to make Maine “the way life should be” for young people so that more of them will choose to live in a state with one of the oldest populations in the nation.'

Essays must be typed and double-spaced. Electronic submissions are accepted. Contestants should provide contact information so they can receive notice of final results. For publication purposes, entries should be no longer than 2000 words. As always, quality of evidence, argumentation, and writing are more important than quantity of words. The best essays support personal opinions with historical context and cited facts. Entries are DUE BY: April 1, 2022. Prizes will be announced by May 2, 2022.

Prizes are $1000 for first place, $500 for second, and $250 for third, with an additional five $50 honorable mention prizes.
