How to Make Corn- Based Bioplastic:
MATERIALS:
Cornstarch
Water
Corn oil
Food coloring
Measuring spoons or containers
Ziploc bag
PROCEDURE
Get a ziploc bag to make one bioplastic (kitchen- grade) sample.
1. Measure one level 15 ml (1 tablespoon) of cornstarch into your Ziploc bag.
2. Add 2 small drops of corn oil to the mixture in your bag.
3. Add 10 ml of water to the cornstarch.
4. Seal the bag and squish it gently to mix everything together.
5. HAVE MR N TEST THE CONSISTENCY OF YOUR MIXTURE BEFORE USING THE MICROWAVE (or it may not work).
6. Add 2 drops of food coloring to the mixture in your bag.
7. Microwave your mixture on high power for 20 seconds. Be sure to leave the bag open a tiny bit so that steam can escape.
8. Careful the plastic will be hot!!
9. Let it cool for several minutes.
