Social Studies Standards
Standard 1: CIVICS AND GOVERNMENT
Students draw on concepts from civics and government to understand political systems, power, authority, governance, civic ideals and practices, and the role of citizens in the community, Maine, the US, and the World.
Standard 2: ECONOMICS AND PERSONAL FINANCE
Students draw from concepts and processes in personal finance to understand issues of money management, saving, investing, credit, and debt; students draw from concepts and processes in economics to understand issues of production, distribution, and consumption in the community, Maine, the United States, and the world. Standard 3: GEOGRAPHY
Students draw on concepts from geography to understand their relationship to and between people, places, regions, and environments of the world.
Standard 4: HISTORY
Students demonstrate knowledge of how people and events of the past impact life in the present.
Standard 5: CITIZENSHIP
Students will apply knowledge of rights and responsibilities of an involved citizen in the classroom and their communities.
Standard 6: SOCIAL STUDIES SKILLS AND PROCESSES
Students apply critical thinking, a research process, and disciplined-based processes and knowledge in authentic contexts.
