English/Language Arts Standards
Standard 1: READING CRITICALLY
Read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it; cite specific textual evidence when writing or speaking to support conclusions drawn from the text. (CCRA-1)
Standard 2: READING COMPREHENSION
Read and comprehend appropriately a range of complex literary and informational texts independently and proficiently. (CCRA 10)
Standard 3: WRITING
Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task,
purpose, and audience. (CCWA 1, 4,10)
Standard 4: WRITING PROCESS
Develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, editing, rewriting, or trying a new approach. (CCWA 5)
Standard 5: SPEAKING AND LISTENING PRESENTATION
Present information, findings, and supporting evidence such that listeners can follow the line of reasoning and the organization, development, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience. (CCSLA 4)
Standard 6: RESEARCH
Conduct short and sustained research projects based on focused questions, demonstrating understanding of the subject under investigation. (CCWA 7, 10)
