INTRODUCTION TO THE ASSIGNMENT
Today you will pretend that you're traveling back in time to visit the dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals. Think of the animals you would like to meet. What would they look like? What would they eat? What color would they be? Do they eat plants, animals or both? There would be many questions you would want to have answered.
Your job is to research the animal that your teacher has assigned to you and your partner. The two of you will work together to gather the information, just like you are paleontologists. So have fun, and remember, the best scientists spend a large amount of their time collecting important facts and are good at asking many questions while doing their research.
You and your partner will need to work together, and share your time on the computer. Make sure each of you fill out your own information sheets.
STEPS
1. First you and your partner will write each others names on the papers that were handed out to you or you can print them off by clicking on the Dinosaur WebQuest Worksheets.
2. Next, print off the Dinosaur WebQuest Rubric.
3. Then write the name of the creature you were given to study on the first line on page three.
4. Now, you and your partner will begin to research your animal.
5. Next, click here to see questions that have been asked about your creature, and the answers that have been given. Fill in the Questions and Answers on page 1.
6. After that, click here to answer the Dinosaur Questions for page 2. You will need to read through all the information, even the colored boxes.
7. Then click here and use the alphabetical index to find your dinosaur. Click on your animal and gather the information you will need for page 3. You may also try here if you need more information.
8. Finally, work on page 4 to write down other things that you think are really important or interesting about your animal. Remember, the best scientists gather information that others may have overlooked.
9. Look at your rubric and see what grade you would give yourself in each category. Turn your finished papers in to the teacher.
10. After your work has been checked, you may put your information together to present to the class. Maybe you can make a diorama using your information.
