Art at Home
Time to WEAVE
I love this time of year because normally students in 4th and 5th grade begin weaving!
I made a tutorial to show you how you can weave while at home!
Materials you will need:
- Cardboard
- Scissors
- Ruler
- pencil
- yarn
- But paper-old material strips-pieces of ribbon can also be used to weave.
Leaf Rubbing
These past few weeks I have been taking TONS of nature walks around my neighborhood. This past week I wanted to make some art inspired by these walks. So I began gathering items from nature that have an interesting texture. I took them back into my studio and created some fun texture rubbings.
Materials:
- Items with texture
- Crayons without jackets!
- Paper
- You can also add details to your rubbings using watercolor, oil pastel, sharpie, and much more.
Family Portrait using Art Apps
This week's Lesson at home was to create a work of art inspired by "Family". For this project, I decided to create a family portrait of a special memory. I used 2 new Art Apps to me. One is called Procreate, and it is super fun to use! Then other is Prisma. Procreate is a drawing app that a lot of my amazing students have told me about. Prisma is more of a photography app. I am obviously still learning and will need to practice all of the fun things these apps can do. What did you create this week? I'd love to see it. I sure miss you all!!
Create a Found Object Color Wheel
I was inspired by some fellow art teachers to create a color wheel at home. With the help of your family, you could create one too! Don't forget to share your work!
What is a color wheel?
A color wheel is a tool that artists use to show the relationships between different colors.
How to create your color wheel:
- Collect items that are MOSTLY one color. These items can can from around your house and yard. You might even go on a nature walk with family to find other objects (flowers, plants, and rocks).
- Find a good place to start organizing your color wheel.
- Sort the items into their proper place. Remember the order is important!
- Photograph your work and share it!
