Round Rock High School Theatre aims to teach and nurture young people who are developing as critical thinkers and performing artists in a changing world. Our process adheres to the principles of integrated learning, and provides for self as well as group expression. We recognize that “process” over “product” is most valuable to students in the classroom and in performance.

Our intent is to provide our students with ideas, techniques, rehearsal methods and performance venues that will permit us to explore the human condition, the range and possibilities of human expression, and to respond to the world around us. All students, regardless of training level or experience, will be encouraged to actively participate.

The process of creating theatre is our primary focus, and public performance the culmination of the process. In learning through performance, we strive to provide our students with meaningful experiences that will foster a continuing, long term appreciation and participation in the arts.

I have been teaching Theatre at Round Rock High School since 1995, serving as Director of Theatre since 1999. During the 2021-22 school year, I will teach Theatre II, Theatre III/IV, Musical Theatre, and Theatre Production IV, direct THE WIZARD OF OZ, an extracurricular Fine Arts Musical, and help with the UIL One Act Play. Charles Hobby, Carlen Gilseth and I will co- sponsor Thespian Troupe 3543.

I attended the University of Maine from 1980-86, earning a BA in Theatre and an MA in Acting/Directing. I have spent many years acting and directing in the city of Austin, and attended the University of Texas, Austin from 1993-1995, receiving certification in Theatre Arts and English. I was very fortunate to study at The Globe Theatre in London during the summer of 2004.
