Course Description

Theatre II is an intensive actor-training workshop-style class. Students will practice and explore the acting process through various exercises, techniques, and dramatic genres. We will work on American realism, situation comedy, contemporary methods of training, and Shakespeare, culminating in the performance of a one-act Shakespeare play at the end of the year for audiences at our school. Theatre IV is an all-senior class in Acting, Directing, and Studio Production. Through various genres and styles, students will have the opportunity to direct for public performances, act in challenging scripts, and create designs for their performance pieces. GOOGLE CLASSROOM PASSWORD: vjf5zk

Musical Theatre I and II is a growing program for training in musical theatre. Students will have the opportunity to perform for the public, explore challenging scores and books, create designs and dances for musical numbers, and learn the history of musical theatre on Broadway. This year we will work on Cole Porter's KISS ME KATE, solo, duet and group musical numbers, and participate in the school-wide musical at the Cedar Ridge Performing Arts Center.

Theatre Production IV is a senior class designed to produce sophisticated work in all areas of theatre practicum: acting, directing, stage management, technical crewing, publicity, and more. All work will be performed for the public. The class supports the extracurricular theatre program with competitive pieces for Thespian Festival, UIL One Act Play, and the annual school musical.
