What are Private Lessons? Why Should My child take them?

All Hopewell Band students are highly encouraged to enroll in private lessons. Private lessons offer your child a unique experience that he or she cannot receive in a regular classroom setting. If you choose to participate in the program, your student will meet with a private instrumental specialist once a week at an arranged time. Think of them as a personal coach that will teach them how to be an outstanding musician, and excel well beyond what they will learn in the classroom. While we as a band staff strive to work with each student regularly, we are limited because of class size and time. We have some of the world's BEST instrument specialists on faculty and know that private lessons greatly contribute to our student's musical success. 

When do private lessons happen? How much do they cost?

Private Lessons can occur before school, during your student's band class period, and after school depending on your schedule and your student's private lesson instructor's availability. Private Lessons are an additional fee (ranging from $23) depending on the instructor's education and experience. If finances are a concern and you'd like to apply for financial aid, you can note that on the enrollment form.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

We understand that there may be a need for financial assistance for your student to participate in the private lesson program. Financial assistance is reserved for families/students with extenuating circumstances (personal/financial) that participating in private lessons would cause undue hardship. This program does not provide free lessons but shares the cost with the family. Financial assistance is not guaranteed. Lessons will not begin until we have reviewed our finances and have communicated to you and our lesson staff on how much we can help with! Please indicate on the Online Enrollment Form whether or not you will be seeking financial assistance for private lessons.
