Kevin Crawford has been the Band Director at Hopewell Middle School since 2006. He currently leads the Honor Band and Hornet Jazz Band ensembles and teaches all beginning woodwind classes.
He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education at The Florida State University as a saxophone principal and began his teaching career at the high school level in Polk County, Florida leading bands at Mulberry, Kathleen and George Jenkins High Schools. In 2005, he completed his Master of Education Degree at the University of Central Florida.
When he’s not working to make our band the best it can be, you’ll likely find him outdoors fishing, biking, running or playing a guitar. He’s married to Heather, his wife of over 25 years and they have a cat named Oliver.

Symphonic Band, Beginning Trumpet, Beginning Horn, Beginning Trombone, Beginning Tuba and Euphonium
Luis Torres is going into his third year as Assistant Band Director at Hopewell Middle School. Mr. Torres conducts the Symphonic Band, and teaches beginning trumpet, horn, and low brass classes.
Mr. Torres graduated from the University of Michigan in the spring of 2016 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Horn Performance. He studied horn with Adam Unsworth and took music education courses with Dr. Colleen Conway, and was a member of the Michigan Marching Band, Michigan Symphony Band, Michigan Pops Orchestra, and the Michigan Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Torres continued his education with a Master of Music degree in Horn Performance at the University of Texas at Austin where he studied horn with Patrick Hughes and was a member of University of Texas Wind Ensemble, and has performed with the Austin Symphony Orchestra.
Since moving to Austin in 2016, he has had numerous horn students make the TMEA Region, Area, and State band and orchestras, as well as the Music for All Honor band of America, and National Youth Wind Ensemble! Mr. Torres is also an inspired conductor, and has been fortunate to work with mentors such as Dr. John Pasquale, Michael Haithcock, Dr. Kevin Sedatole, Steve Davis, Jerry Junkin, and Gary Green at various conducting Symposiums, as well as being one of the conductors for one of the World Class Drum Corps, Carolina Crown in 2011.
When Mr. Torres isn’t teaching, he enjoys watching Marvel movies, playing video games, and cooking!
Scott Jones has been the Percussion Director for the Hopewell Middle School bands since 2022. Mr. Jones teaches beginner percussion and directs the Honor and Symphonic Percussion Ensembles. He also teaches private percussion lessons for our other vertical team members: Hernandez Middle School and Stony Point High School.
Mr. Jones holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of North Texas. While at UNT, he performed with the world-renowned Green Brigade Drumline, under the direction of Paul Rennick, the 8 O'Clock Steel Band, and the Percussion Players, directed by the late Christopher Deane. Mr. Jones studied with Christopher Deane, Stockton Helbing, and Ed Smith throughout his time at UNT.
Outside of school, Mr. Jones performs with Cedar Park Winds and enjoys cheering on his favorite sports teams.
