Check it out. In front of the school... Mosaic tiles hanging in the garden lattice that the kids made.

2022-2023
Big Art Day was March 1st. All students created tiles that were then applied to a concrete bench that will be on the side of the school next year.
2021-2022
5th graders designed and painted a mural for our blacktop.
2020-2021
Finger crossed we will be able to complete a project for last year.
2019-2020
Well this isn't going to happen. I apologize, but there isn't much we can do. This project will be gifted to the next class...
Memory Benches for our community member and school supporter Gene Dillard that passed this fall. Students will design and tile benches to be at front of the school that Mr. Dillard loved so much. I will keep you posted on details and volunteers need to help me pull this off.
Thanks!
2018-2019
I haven't heard any ideas.. and since this is a student driven project, we will start probing for ideas. I offer my studio and time and supplies where I can, but this isn't a teacher project. If any parents want to brainstorm with me, just email me and we can chat...
** Jan 15th...Update
I have not been contacted by any parents that want to lead this project. Just letting you know it is not something I can do the months March-May.
5/23/19 In the last weeks of school, students were invited to come and create a gift for Ms. Martin. Many cam after school and at recess to complete it. She was so thrilled that we used her mothers old sheet music... making this a memorable piece.
2017-2018
We are almost done!! It has been a long process and a large learning lesson for us all. Students designed and created the stepping stone that will be installed by the flag pole. Keep an eye out for photos!
2016-2017
It is hard to believe that this group is moving on to Grisham. I had many of them in third grade and feel lucky to have them all this year. They have worked hard and taught me a lot about listening to what students want, mixing it with what they need. Mrs. Preston did a wonderful job filling our walls, and so our "gift" is different this year. We will be leaving this digital copy of "Favorite Memory" at Canyon Creek.
After an intro to photography lesson, students were let lose to use the ipads to capture a spot at school that held their favorite memory. We then transferred the image on to watercolor paper, painted and wrote why this memory was important. By far this was the most challenging piece they have ever done. They amazed me, but more importantly themselves. This cumulative piece is a wonderful memory to frame and keep, forever.
