Henry VIII over the years grew up a devout Catholic but when the Pope refused to do what he wanted (grant him a divorce from his first wife), then he eliminated the Pope's influence in Great Britain.

Henry had three children (total) from his first three marriages.
Mary was from his first marriage to Catherine, She later ruled Great Britain after the death of her step brother Edward. Obsessed with the Catholic faith her short reign led to numerous deaths of Protestants. Her work would be outdone by her sister Elizabeth I.
Henry and Anne Boleyn gave birth to Elizabeth I, who would go on to establish Great Britain as the most powerfulest country on Earth until the end of World War I in 1918.
Thanks to the Peace of Augsburg Henry was able to break ties with the Catholic Church in Rome. The Act of Supremacy forced people to recognize Anne as the new Queen by swearing an oath and those that didn't were beheaded in the Tower of London. Parliament back Henry's every move. Thomas More, a devout Catholic, was one of those who was beheaded despite a lifelong friendship with Henry.
It is not known how many people were executed under Henry's reign but it is numbered in the thousands by many historians

Because Anne could not produce a male heir, Henry's advisors pushed him to believe that she was a witch and supported a return of the Catholic faith to Great Britain. Anne became one of the many casualties of the Reformation. She was later tried and beheaded by Henry in the Tower of London.

Henry and his third wife, Jane Seymour produced his only legitimate son that lived to adulthood.
Edward VI ruled Great Britain from 1547-1553, he continued the practices of the Protestant Reformation movement of his father.
