Ākonga will negotiate, with the support of the teacher, the learning programme from a variety of the available standards. In taking this course ākonga need to be prepared to compose, perform and produce dance sequences both individually and as part of a group. They will learn a range of new practical dance skills, as well as develop those within their dominant genre, through increasing technique and choreographic skills. The course will include developing knowledge of dance history as students learn to critically respond to dance and interpret context. This course adds very beneficial skills to anyone looking for any practical post-school career.
Dance has an element of team work to it even when being assessed individually and so a commitment to attendance for this course is vital for assessment success.
