The Robla Education Foundation held its inaugural meeting in December 1998 with the following participants: David Brown, Pamela Johnson, Larry Schapiro, Melinda Bukey, Dr. Wayne Padover, Wayne Sjolund, Naomi Burnett, Rory Parker, Alice Thompson, Tina Chiginsky, Paul Raineri, Nora Hatfield, and John Reven. At subsequent monthly meetings, this original group of visionaries adopted bylaws and filed the necessary paperwork to become a full-fledged Education Foundation.
Elections were held, and Mr. David Brown was elected as the first President of the Foundation, Ms. Tina Chiginsky was elected Vice-President, Ms. Naomi Burnett was elected Secretary, Mr. John Reven was elected Treasurer, and Ms. Alice Thompson was elected Publicity Chairperson. Mr. Sjolund was the first Tournament Director of the 1st Annual Robla Education Foundation Golf Tournament, but was replaced by Mr. Pat Cahill early on due to a change in employment. Mr. Cahill chaired the tournament for a few years before passing the torch to Mr. Darren Kaff, who then passed it to Mr. John Reven. The tournament was terminated, with the final held in May 2017. Due to a major health issue, Mr. Reven was no longer able to run the tournament, and no one stepped up. Additionally, we had lost several foursomes due to attrition over the years. However, we have continued to fund the Foundation through the yearly fireworks booth held at Bing's Market.
At this time, Mr. Reven is the only person from the original group that is still in the Foundation, and is actually The Foundation. All the others who were at the inaugural meeting have either left the area or passed away.
