CIRCULATION PROCEDURES
Checking Out Items
Staff
Staff members may check out library materials for 60 days. At that time, items may be renewed if not on hold for another patron.
Students
Students may check out library materials based on their grade level. Students may renew items if not on hold for another patron. Students are asked to return or renew library materials each week, during their library special.
Kindergarten
Students in Kindergarten may check out one book for a term of one week. Kindergarterners begin the year checking out books to their classroom, and then get the opportunity to bring them home later in the year.
1st Grade : 1 book every week
2nd Grade: 2 books every week
3rd Grade: 3 books every week
4th Grade: 4 books every week
5th - 8th Grade: What they need
Overdue Books
Any students with overdue books may not check out new items until the books have been returned, or the books have been renewed.
Fines/Fees
Damaged Books
Fines/fees will be assessed according to amount of damage to the book and the amount of time and money for the materials to repair the item. Students will be charged the full amount of the purchase price of the book for any material damaged beyond repair.
Lost Books
Students will be charged the full amount of the purchase price of the book for any material lost from the library’s collection.
Overdue Books
Students with overdue materials may not check out new items until the items have been renewed, returned, or (if lost) paid for. Overdue notices will be sent out periodically during the school year to students with overdue books. Books overdue for more than two months will be considered lost; students will be charged the full amount of the purchase price of the book for these materials. Should the books return damaged, the student will be charged according to the damaged books policy listed above.
Payment
Payment of fines/fees must be made to Barstow School Library as soon as possible. Checks may be made out to: Barstow Student Activities--Library.
