Biology

Welcome to Biology and the 2019-2020 school year. As a class, we will take the next ten months to explore the science of living things here at Ridgefield High School. During this process students will investigate topics such as:

• Nature of Science & Scientific Processes
• Bioethics
• Evolution & Classification
• Genetics
• Microbiology & Cytology
• Biochemistry & Metabolism
• Ecology

Studying

Science is a course that requires some work outside of the classroom. You should expect to spend approximately 15-20 minutes each evening studying for this class. Some nights you’ll have an assignment to complete. Other evenings, you’ll need to study things like vocabulary, notes, or activities from your science notebook. As a student, you will want to establish good study habits right away.

Grading

Students’ grades will be calculated with the following categories:

• Category and % of Overall Grade
  • Assessment = 30%
  • Labs & Activities = 25%
  • Daily Work = 15%
  • Class Participation = 15%
  • Science Notebook = 15%
