Dance Unit

We will begin our dance unit after winter break this year. If for any reason your student is absent, or needs more help with the dances, please print out the handouts below that have the dance steps for every dance that we learn in class. Repetition is key for this unit! Practice, practice, practice!

DANCE UNIT EXPECTATIONS

1. NO CELL PHONES, NO EXCEPTIONS

• If a student brings a cell phone to class, that student will then be asked to wear his or her. PE clothes for the remainder of the entire dance unit, and will also be issued a referral.

2. LEAVE ALL BACKPACKS AND BELONGINGS IN THE LOCKER ROOM

• Backpacks must be placed in your locker room, near your locker or in the PE office

• Enter the front door of the locker room.

• Exit the back door of the locker room.

3. DO NOT DRESS IN PE CLOTHES

• Make sure PE clothes are in the locker room.

• Be prepared for outside activity on any given day.

• If a student breaks the cell phone rule, he or she wears PE clothes everyday

4. RESPECT

• All students have the right to a safe learning environment.

• Students will be respectful of peers during line and partner dance.

• Students will accept dancing with any partner who asks or with whom they are assigned without complaining.

5. RESPONSIBILITY

• All students will stay in their roll call spots unless directed otherwise.

• All students are required to participate in the dance unit.

• Failure to participate will result in a phone call home and further discipline as needed.
