Welcome to our PYP Curriculum website for Renaissance College!
This website contains the Renaissance College written curriculum documents for Primary. These documents are based on documents created by the English Schools Foundation (ESF), reflective of documents from the International Baccalaureate (IB) as well as curriculum documents from around the world.
Supporting our approach to learning and teaching, these documents express 'big ideas' (conceptual understandings) as well as learning outcomes shared as learning progressions (phase based). These understandings and outcomes are uncovered, explicitly and implicitly taught inside and outside of our Programme of Inquiry (POI).
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) presents schools with a comprehensive plan for high quality, international education.
It provides schools with a curriculum framework of elements — the knowledge, concepts, skills, and action that young students need to equip them for successful lives, both now and in the future.
Schools work with the elements to construct a rigorous and challenging primary curriculum for international education, represented as the Programme of Inquiry (POI).
The PYP aims to create a curriculum that is engaging, relevant, challenging and significant for learners in the 3–12 age range. The curriculum is transdisciplinary, meaning that it focuses on issues that go across subject areas.
