Chromebook Settings:
On the bottom right side of the Chromebook screen, click once anywhere on the menu bar for a popup menu.
Click settings, and under "Device" click "Keyboard Settings".
Click "Change language and input settings".
Leave US Keyboard checked and also check US International Keyboard.
Click the "Add button" and from the drop down menu choose the language you want added and click OK.
Click "Done" and close out of settings.
In the menu bar at the bottom right of the Chromebook screen you should now see either US or INTL
To toggle between the two keyboards:
ON LEFT SIDE OF KEYBOARD hold down the ALT key and tap the Shift key until you have the name of keyboard you want displayed/activated in the menu bar.
When typing in Google Docs tap the ALT key on RIGHT SIDE OF KEYBOARD plus a letter for an accent mark on that letter.
Chrome Extension:
This extension runs while you are in Chrome. This means that you can use this extension while using Chrome.
The special Characters extension can be used while in Slides, Forms, Sheets, and on Sites.
Google Docs Add-on:
In Google Docs click on add-ons and then get add-ons. Select easy accents.
To launch this add-on, click on add-ons and easy accents. Select the language.
Insert Special Characters:
You can add special characters into your documents and presentations, such as arrows, shapes, or non-Latin Characters.
1. Open your document or presentation.
2. Click the "Insert" menu.
3. Select "Special Characters". You can use the drop down menus to explore categories of characters.
4. After selecting a character, click the "Insert" button to add it to your document.
In a document, you can also use your cursor to handwrite the special character you want to add. Just write the character in the box on the right side of the "Insert special characters" window and choose one of the search results that appears.
