SOCIAL SKILLS CLASSES ARE BASED ON THE 7 AREAS OF ETHICAL AND RESPONSIBLE BEHAVIOR EXPECTED BY STUDENTS AT RLRS (Weekly K-5 classes using many different media types/resources)
STANDARDS FOR ETHICAL AND RESPONSIBLE BEHAVIOR: OUR VALUES IN ACTION
With rights come responsibilities. Students are expected to demonstrate ethical and responsible behavior consistent with the school community’s values. Such conduct is fundamental to a supportive, safe, and orderly school environment and a civil society.
A student who is RESPECTFUL of others and self: Treats others with dignity.Supports and contributes to healthful habits for self and others. Appreciates the differences in people and their beliefs. Does not put others or self down.
A student who is HONEST: Seeks to speak the truth respectfully. Acknowledges his own actions. Does not seek to steal from others. Does not cheat or plagiarize.
A student who is COMPASSIONATE: Treats all people with kindness. Lends a helping hand to those in need. Seeks to understand and listen. Does not tease, taunt or draw attention to others weaknesses.
A student who is COURAGEOUS: Does the right thing even if it’s not popular, sticks up for those who need it and takes a stand against unethical behaviors (Just Say No).
A student who is RESPONSIBLE: Acknowledges making a mistake, answers for personal actions or failures to act and reports hurtful, hateful or dangerous behavior to an adult.
A student who is COOPERATIVE: Works well with others, does not take it personally when someone disagrees with them, does not need to be in control and builds up the community.
A student who is SELF-CONTROLLED: Maintains appropriate behaviors, handles anger appropriately and does not act out in class or disrupt to get attention.
