What will my child be learning in Pre-K?

Just like any other grade level, Pre-K has it's own set of standards that the teachers are responsible to teach and the students are responsible to learn. We teach using primarily a hands-on approach which makes it fun and exciting for everyone! In terms of assessment, we use a portfolio based assessment to assess the students called Work Sampling Online. WSO provides multiple opportunities for students to demonstrate skill mastery over time. Data from WSO, along with our standards, is used to guide instruction in the classroom and to provide a Narrative Summary that describes student progress to parents twice a year, once in December and once in May. The Narrative Summaries are Pre-K's version of a report card. The children also complete Student Learning Objectives twice a year. The SLOs and the WSO data are interconnected.

If you would like to see what all your child will be learning this year, click on the following link. Once in the link, select a domain, and then click on 48-60 months and you will see the Pre-K standards for that domain. Next, underneath each standard you can click on the + sign and a drop down box will share even more specific learning expectations within each standard.
