My Teaching Career

This is my 26th year teaching and it has always been my passion!  I am SO excited to be the gifted specialist at Sky Crossing! My first experience of "teaching" began when I was just 9 years old. I started teaching my little sister and little brother on a Sesame Street chalkboard.   After high school graduation, I followed my dream of becoming a teacher and attended Northern Arizona University.  In May of 1997, I  graduated Summa Cum Laude with honors and distinctions and earned my Bachelor in Elementary Education with a science endorsement. After graduation, I  started teaching at Arrowhead Elementary and two years later I  joined the Desert Trails family in  1999.  That same year I earned my Masters in Elementary with a reading endorsement from NAU. A few years later I earned my SEI certification and my gifted endorsement; I have taught grades 4, 5, and 6 as well as a combo 4/5 class. I have also been the cluster teacher for many years and easily transitioned as the gifted specialist at Desert Trails in 2014. I was the gifted specialist at  Desert Trails until I was asked to join the cadre and helped to open Sky Crossing. I am so happy to be part of the Sky Crossing family as the Gifted Specialist. 

 Needless to say, I love learning and I absolutely love what I get to do each day!
