Dear Wonderful Parents,
I am so excited for this new school year! I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Wildfire and introduce myself. My name is Cortney Field and I am thrilled to be your child’s kindergarten teacher!
I am the oldest of three girls and was born and raised here in Phoenix, Arizona. For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to be a teacher. I attended Greenway High School and graduated in the top 5% of my class in 1992. After high school, I received the Regent’s Scholarship and attended Arizona State University and graduated with a B.A. in Elementary Education with an ESL Endorsement in 1996.
Along with being a Resident Assistant at ASU, my summer job during college was teaching swim lessons as a lifeguard and swim team coach at Cactus Pool for the City of Phoenix. This is where I met my husband Adam, also a swim coach! After completing my student teaching in the Paradise Valley Unified School District, I began teaching in the Alhambra School District in the fall of 1996.
I received my Masters in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University in the fall 1998. I taught third grade for three years and second grade for another three years.
Then the most wonderful thing happened, I became a mom! I have an amazing son Addison (AJ) who graduated from Pinnacle High School, class of 2022 and a wonderful daughter, Ava who is starting her Sophomore year at Pinnacle High School this year! My children are my biggest love and I was lucky enough to be able to stay home with them when they were very young. Eleven years ago, when my daughter was preschool age, I accepted a part time kindergarten position at Adams Traditional Academy. I really LOVED teaching kindergarten and when my Ava was old enough for preK at Wildfire I joined this amazing staff! The 2020-21 school year during the pandemic I taught kindergarten for PVOnline for one year. I resumed my position at Wildfire the following year and am currently starting my 19th year of teaching in my neighborhood school (we are original homeowners in Aviano). I love being part of such a great community of people!
We are going to have such an amazing year! Your children will learn and grow so much this year and I am honored to be able to facilitate each student’s learning in a safe, positive and encouraging classroom. The best foundation for a child’s education is a classroom that encourages children to experience new things while fostering independence and decision making in a loving and caring environment. Thank you for sharing your children with me! If you ever have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me anytime! My email is cofield@pvlearners.net.
Sincerely,
Cortney Field
