If you are a Student-Athlete and wish to play a sport at the college level you need to register on one or both of these Eligibility Centers websites. We recommend that you wait and register during your Junior year.
The Eligibility Center certifies the academic and amateur credentials of all students who want to play sports at an NCAA Division I or II institution or at one of the hundreds of NAIA Schools as freshmen. In order to practice, play and receive an athletic scholarship, students need to meet certain academic benchmarks. An additional certification process exists to make sure the student is still an amateur, which is necessary in order for the student to compete.
NCAA: Your grades and the classes you take matter. Please look at the High School Course Catalog to make sure your class meets the requirements.
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) is an organization that governs college sports for smaller colleges and universities across the United States. If you're a high school student interested in playing sports at the college level but are looking for options beyond the NCAA, the NAIA might be a perfect fit for you. NAIA schools offer competitive athletic programs, scholarships, and a more intimate campus environment where you can thrive both academically and athletically. By joining an NAIA team, you'll have the opportunity to continue playing the sport you love while pursuing your college education.
What is the NJCAA
The JRCAA (Junior College Athletic Association) is an organization dedicated to fostering the athletic talents and academic development of students at junior colleges across the country. If you're a high school student with a passion for sports and are considering a two-year college, the JRCAA offers a unique pathway to continue playing the sport you love while also pursuing your education. Many students turn to the JRCAA to gain valuable experience, improve their skills, and potentially transfer to a four-year institution with greater opportunities. Through participation in JRCAA events and competitions, student-athletes can balance academics with athletics, develop time management skills, and lay the groundwork for future success both on and off the field.
