Intramural Sports
2022-2023:
There are 4 intramural sports offered for girls, and 4 for boys. Each quarter, there is one sport for the girls and one for the boys. Practice times are generally 2:40 to 4:00 Monday through Thursday, (& very few Friday practices). There is a late bus that takes students to the Elementary feeder schools for Sunrise Middle School. This bus leaves our parking lot about 4:10.
Girls' softball, boys' basketball, girls' volleyball, boys' flag football, and girls' basketball are All-Star sports. This means that Sunrise athletes compete against each other for approximately 5 weeks. At the end of the 5 weeks, Sunrise teams play the other district middle schools at a Saturday festival. This festival marks the end of the season for most athletes. Students that are selected to the All-Star team will play for another 3 weeks after the Festival, and compete against the other middle schools' all-star teams.
Track & Field and Boys' Wrestling are not all-star sports. There is no all-star team selected or all-star season for these 2 sports. All students make the Intramural Team, and the Saturday Festival marks the end of their season.
The fee for intramural sports is $75. There is an additional $30 fee for athletes who are selected for the all-star season.
Starting dates for intramural sports, as well as the dates of the festivals, are listed below. Sign up forms will be available about 1 week before each sport begins.
