The graphs show the results of the Observational Survey for all students enrolled at Pt England School at their 6th birthday from February 2012 to November 2012. The testing was carried out by one teacher, Mrs Lorene Slade to ensure consistency of approach.
The 2012 reading results are disappointing as seen above. The National mean is reading level 12-15. Pt England mean is level 6/7. When the data was analysed the children still reading magenta and red were all identified as either ESOL or Special Needs. This particular cohort of children has a very long tail with only a very small number of children achieving highly.
The ROL results after one year at school show that the reading levels match the low achievement in oral language.
The majority of students should be achieving within level 3. Only 3 out of 50 children are achieving within the expected level.
