Learn Create Share

The Learn, Create, Share pedagogy underpins the teaching and learning at Pt England and is an integral part of school life for the students and teachers. Learn Create Share enables a culture of motivation, creativity and ultimately engagement in learning by providing high interest learning experiences with authentic audience, placing the students at the centre of their learning.

Learn Create Share is used in all curriculum areas. Students use the knowledge and skills of the learning experiences, from direct instruction to child centred inquiry, to demonstrate their learning by producing a Digital Learning Object that can be shared with a variety of audiences from the student sitting next to them, to family and whanau around the world or casual browsers on the internet. This provides opportunity for reflection and feedback from a range of individuals who keep the learning happening by providing positive comments, extended ideas and participation in an expanding network of fellow learners. The power is in the fact that even a five year old can teach their peers a simple skill by creating a DLO of their achievement then sharing that with others to use as a learning tool.

The beauty of the DLO is that once created it can be revisited time and time again for revision, reflection and self evaluation. Students who do this are always asking themselves 'What else could I have done? Could I have explained that in a better way? If I was doing that now how would I do it?

This process develops critical thinking and inspires further deeper learning.

As with the other members of our Manaiakalani Cluster of schools we believe strongly that our students will be:

  • Confident, connected, actively involved lifelong learners

  • At home in the digital world

  • Living local, learning global

  • Future focused learners in connected communities
