D.O.C. stands for the 'Department of Conservation'.
D.O.C is a government organisation that is responsible for the conservation of NZ's natural and historical heritage. For example, they work to protect many of our native forests, lakes and islands, and marine parks and reserves. Their vision is for NZ to be the greatest living space on Earth.
Their vision means ensuring that New Zealanders gain a wide range of benefits from healthy functioning
ecosystems, recreation opportunities, and through living our history.
To do this, they organise their work around five outcomes:
the diversity of our natural heritage is maintained and restored
our history is protected and brought to life
more people participate in recreation
core people engage with conservation and value its benefits
conservation gains from more business partnerships.
