Birthdays are a cause for celebration in first grade! In 1W all students receive a "Birthday Book" with cards from all their classmates. If your family would like to visit our classroom for your child’s birthday, I kindly request that you email me a week in advance so that I can do my best to accommodate your schedule and so we can plan the activity together. In the past families have come and read a story, or complete a small art project. Any/all family members are welcome, but is not necessary as many families choose to focus their celebration at home. Please note, due to our district’s Wellness Policy, families are NOT permitted to bring food in for these celebrations.
In the Classroom
If a member of your family would like to volunteer in our classroom to support our curriculum development (see the Social Studies section of “A Day in 1W”), please email me a week in advance so that I can do my best to plan and accommodate schedules.
On Field Trips
This year there will be several opportunities to volunteer as chaperones on field trips. Information will be provided via email when field trip dates are confirmed. All chaperones will need to complete a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) form, and return it to the Main Office prior to the field trip date. If a CORI is not completed and on file, you will not be permitted to attend the field trip. A CORI form is attached below, and feel free to email me with any questions.
