Philosophy & Class Expectations

The teaching philosophy that guides my teaching is as follows:

It is important for students to learn to work as individuals and together.Students should leave the classroom with tools that will allow them to grow socially and mentally.

Expected School Wide Learning Results (ESLR’s) in the math class are as follows:

As applicable for each lesson, I use the relevant ESLR’s.The ESLR’s utilized most in the classroom include using practical math concepts for everyday living, developing good communication skills both oral and written, and recognizing one’s own strengths and short-comings.

Expected Behavior in the math class is as follows:

Four basic rules are listen, be polite, work hard, and respect others in class. Students who fail to follow these rules will need to discuss the matter with me. Problems that persist will be dealt with through parent and administrative involvement.

Parents Should Expect:

Every student to maintain a record of every assignment they are given by the teacher. Students are expected to record the work they do and indicate work not yet done. I use e-mail and progress reports to communicate concerns pertaining to academics and behavior.
